A GANG wearing military fatigues and MAGA merchandise filmed themselves tearing down a steel monolith hours after it mysteriously appeared on a California mountain.
The four vandals can be heard chanting "Christ is king" and "America first" as they pull down the "alien" structure and replace it with a wooden cross.
The 10ft obelisk was discovered on Pine Mountain in Atascadero on Wednesday - matching similar mystery monuments in Utah and Romania.
Within 24 hours it had vanished, and group of young men were boasting online that they were responsible.
They said they drove for five hours from Orange County to destroy it.
A video posted on streaming website DLive shows the gang, some in Make America Great Again branded clothing, pushing over the steel tower on the dark hilltop.
One of the group can be heard calling it an "alien obelisk" and others call it "gay".
One says: "Christ is king in this country. We don’t want illegal aliens from Mexico or outer space.
"So let’s tear this b***h down."
The gang chant "Christ is king" as they push the structure back and forth until the base gives way and it topples over.
The leader of the group, identified by his handle CultureWarCriminal, then raises a fist in the air towards the camera and shouts: "America first."
They then erect a large cross, and pose in front of it with their boots on the felled monolith.
The video ends with the men dragging it down the mountain, calling it names and cheering.
TRIPLE MYSTERY
City of Atascadero officials confirmed the mystery monolith had been taken.
Deputy City Manager Terrie Banish on Thursday: “The monolith disappeared this morning. We did not remove it.
"There was rebar found in the ground, so we are planning to remove that as it’s a safety hazard.
"At this time, the City does not have any plans to investigate this further.”
Hikers found the monolith on Pine Mountain on Wednesday morning.
Dozens of other people scaled the peak to pose for photos beside it.
Reports said the 10ft triangular tube appeared to be welded at the corners, “with rivets attaching the side panels to a likely steel frame inside”.
The bizarre structure was estimated to be 18 inches wide and weigh around 200lb.
Its origin is still unkown.
Gary Lyons, who often hikes on the mountain, said: “I guess this is a thing now.
“Be prepared to see these everywhere.”
Last week, the discovery of a similar sparked a worldwide frenzy among UFO watchers.
Wildlife rangers stumbled into a scene straight out of 2001: A Space Odyssey while counting sheep from a helicopter.
The shiny obelisk appeared to rise from the barren red earth in a horseshoe of rocks.
Pilot Bret Hutchings said: "That is the strangest thing I've ever come across out there in years of flying."
State officials described it as "a metal monolith installed in the ground”, adding it did not have permission and they did not know how it got there.
Days later it had as tourists flocked to see it.
And the riddle deepened when showed it had been there for years.
A was also found on a hillside near an ancient town in Romania.
