Hashem, 23, was convicted of 22 murders for helping his brother build the bomb.

He did not give evidence and was jailed for 55 years.

While in prison in October, he was asked by Nick de la Poer QC, a barrister for the Arena bombing inquiry team: “What actions have you taken to support Islamic State?”

He replied: “The Manchester attack.”

He also handed over a written statement said to represent pro-IS propaganda.

Paul Greaney QC said: "It sets out his motivations for having engaged in the attack. To put it in simple terms it represents pro-Islamic state propaganda."

The inquiry continues.
