Rose West ditches infamous name and now wants to be known as Jennifer Jones
HOUSE of Horrors monster Rose West has ditched her infamous name — and now wants to be known as Jennifer Jones.
Britain’s most prolific female murderer, serving ten life sentences, has told pals she wants to move on from her evil past.
The 67-year-old widow of evil Fred is thought to have paid £36 to change it by deed poll earlier this month.
Sources last night confirmed the switch, while prison officers and fellow inmates have been ordered to show respect to the serial killer by using the new name.
But the order has sparked anger among many at New Hall women’s jail, near Wakefield, West Yorks.
A source told The Sun: “Rose thinks the name will give her some anonymity but there’s a lot of anger about it.
“She’s chosen the new surname because it’s so common and the Christian name just because she’s always liked it.
'GETTING RID OF ASSOCIATION TO FRED'
“For her, it’s more about getting rid of any association to Fred for good.”
West helped her husband torture and murder at least nine girls and women in the 1970s and 1980s at their home in Gloucester. Rose also murdered her stepdaughter.
Her husband killed himself in jail while awaiting trial in 1995.
Rose had been loyal to Fred for decades. But after she was convicted of ten murders in November that year she claimed he had acted alone.
A string of appeals failed. Last year, West was moved to New Hall where she spends much of her time alone.

She is being held in a unit with 16 other female cons. Each has an en-suite cell and can stroll outside with the resident free-range chickens.
Raised flower beds and manicured lawns are also designed to form a “psychologically informed environment”.
West’s name change will be registered by the Queen’s Bench division of London’s High Court.
