Police hunt knife attacker after elderly man was stabbed to death in Glasgow street

Forensic teams scour the scene as cops confirm murder investigation

A PENSIONER has been knifed to death in the middle of the street.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was stabbed in the Bridgeton area of Glasgow at around 12.30am on Wednesday.

Police confirmed they have launched a murder investigation as forensic teams combed the cordoned off crime scene.

A police spokeswoman said: “At around 12.25am an elderly man was stabbed in Abercromby Street, near Stevenson Street, in Bridgeton, Glasgow.

 “He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and died a short time later. We have launched a murder inquiry and investigations are continuing.”
One witness told the : “There are a lot of people trying to get to their work and they cant get past the cordon. Police officers are taking down their names.”
