Shameless star Jody Latham admits to harassing ex with threatening phone calls

EASTENDERS and Shameless star Jody Latham has admitted harassing his ex-fiancee.
The 33-year-old, famous for playing Frank Gallagher’s son Lip in the Channel 4 series Shameless, left two voicemail messages for his former partner and fellow co-star Sarah Byrne.
Latham made the calls at the “tail-end” of the pair’s relationship in February and March this year and ordered Ms Byrne, 27, to contact him - making threats if she didn’t get in touch.
Latham, who played pimp Rob Grayson in EastEnders and Lip in Channel 4’s Shameless, had been due to stand trial at Tameside magistrates’ court in Manchester.
But he changed his plea to guilty on the first day.
Gerard Doran, defending, said: “There are two messages. He accepts the content of them would amount to harassment.”
Latham, who dated singer Tulisa Contostavlos in 2012, set up a Manchester drama school in 2015 with Shameless co-star Sarah.
He will be sentenced next month.
Latham set up a drama school in Manchester last year with Ms Byrne, best known for playing Meena Karib in Shameless.
In September last year, the pair were forced to flee the Lowry Theatre in Salford after being attacked by other members of the audience during a play.
Latham, who was watching four actors from his drama school perform, fled after suffering cuts to his eyebrow and nose while Ms Byrne was also injured.
He was believed to have accused a member of the audience of disrupting the performance by going to the toilet.
In 2012, Latham admitted running a £14,000 cannabis farm and was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
He claimed he was “too famous” to buy the drug from dealers.
