Motorcyclist narrowly avoids death flying through the air after hitting FOAM MAT on motorway

The dramatic footage shows the rider in Minnesota, US, being forced to roll out of the path of oncoming cars

THIS video captures the dramatic moment a motorcyclist managed to narrowly escape death when a foam mat flew off the back of a black SUV and hit his bike.

The man swerved in a bid to avoid other cars and went hurtling through the air.

The incident was caught on a dashcam by motorist Linda Leverty, who was in her own vehicle behind.

The SUV was towing a boat on the Interstate 94 in Woodbury, Minnesota, in the US, when the dramatic event unfolded.

When he saw the hazard he moved into the middle lane, but the mat then rolled into his path.

Jankowski hit the mat full on, and was sent flying into the air on his motorbike, before crashing back to the road.

His bike was sent swerving off to the left going one way as he catapulted through the air.

Unbelievably he managed to escape, and no other cars were involved in what could have been a very serious accident.

Jankowski told Fox News: “I didn't want to just swerve and possibly hit a car and get run over so I tried to get to the furthest part of the right of my lane.
