The snap-happy picture service collapsed in Europe, the US and Great Britain.

It appears to have broken at about 16.55 UK time, prompting people to flock to Twitter to vent their rage.

Snapchat moved quickly to fix the problem and the global flow of sexy self portraits has resumed once again.

Some users said they couldn't log into the app, whilst others claimed they were unable to send images.

It's unclear what has caused the Snapchat outage.
