ISIS threaten attack on Heathrow Airport this weekend
A Twitter account linked to the militant group warned there would be a 'device placed' at either the London hub, LAX or JFK in the next couple of days
ISIS has threatened an attack on Heathrow this weekend.
A Twitter account linked to the terror group warned that a "device" would be placed at either the London airport, LAX in Los Angeles or JFK in New York over the July 4 weekend.
Specifically, it threatened attacks on planes “flying from Heathrow [Airport] to the US” and said that “there will be a device placed in either Heathrow, LAX or JFK airports.”
The threat was revealed by SITE Intelligence Group – the world’s leading non-governmental counterterrorism organization.
The group was founded by Rita Katz, who has tracked and analysed global terrorism and jihadi networks for nearly two decades.
Katz is well-recognized as one of the most reliable experts in the field and has received special recognition from FBI Director Robert Mueller for her "outstanding assistance to the FBI in connection with its investigative efforts".
The threat comes three days after 50 people were killed after three suicide bombers blew themselves up at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
And just hours after ISIS claimed responsibility for the death of two cops in an attack on a crowded restaurant popular with foreigners in the Bangladeshi capital tonight.
According to local media reports, customers and workers were taken hostage by up to nine gunman in Dhaka.
Amaq News Agency, an ISIS media branch, said more than 20 people had been killed in the attack but Bangladeshi police have reported that only two have been shot dead.
