Monster 8ft python washes up dead on a beach in Kent
Two step-brothers were dog-walking as the tide came in on Sunday evening when they found the snake
TWO dog-walkers were left stunned when they came across a massive python washed up on the shore in Kent.
The giant 8ft snake, which originates from Southeast Asia, was discovered by step-brothers Ross Turner, 34, and Mike Creighton, 36.
The pair stumbled upon the serpent while out on a dog walk on the Isle of Sheppy on Sunday evening, when the tide was coming in.
The monster python lay lifeless on the beach with its jaws open and teeth showing, according to the brothers.
Ross, a self-employed landscaper, said: "We couldn't believe it.
"As soon as we got out of the van we saw something shimmering by the shoreline and went across to investigate.
"At first we thought it was sunbathing.
"I thought I was going for a walk not a safari. I've never seen a snake as big as that before, not even in a zoo.
"It was just lying on the beach with its mouth open showing its teeth. I don't know how long it had been dead but it smelled horrible."
Puzzled Ross had no explanation for the suspicious sea serpent's bizarre location, but suggested it had floated in with the tide.
He added: "It was facing in line with the tide like it had been washed in."
To fathom just how large the deceased predator was, Ross laid out next to it on the beach, whilst step-brother Mike snapped a picture.
Ross said: "I'm 6ft 6in and it was longer than me.
"It must be at least 7ft 6in or possibly 8ft. It was a monster.
"Perhaps it is someone's pet which has escaped?"
Ross speculated that the beast could have been "dumped" by possible owners, before concluding: "If it was my pet that had died I'd have given it a funeral."
Python's are one of the only groups of snakes able to eat an adult human being and have been known to seriously injure and even kill.
In 2013 two young boys were strangled to death in Canada after a seven-stone African Rock python slithered through a ventilation system into their room.
The bodies of Connor Barthe, 7, and his brother Noah, 5, were discovered in the living room of the flat above a Reptile Ocean shop in Campbellton, New Brunswick.
In 1996 a 13-foot python, being kept as a pet by two reptile enthusiast brother in New York, killed 19-year-old Grant Williams.
He was found lying face down in a pool of his own blood with the snake coiled around his midriff and back, police said.
