We quizzed couples across Britain about their sex lives — and sensationally found that July is the busiest time for love and it all kicks off this weekend.

Almost a quarter of the nation’s lovers — fuelled by a hint of sunshine and looking forward to their summer holidays — told how this month was their favourite for passion.

Our saucy summer survey of 2,000 Brits even revealed that couples have sex FOUR TIMES a week on average during July — more than at any other time of year.

Recruitment consultant Joe Garrod, 23, and partner Lucy Turner, 22, inset below, agreed with our findings — adding that at the start of July they can end up between the sheets three times a DAY.

Lucy, 22, a make-up artist, from Benfleet, Essex, said: “It is always the first weekend of July that brings something out in us. The sun coming out — and surely it will happen soon — means we wear fewer clothes and if we’re at home and on holidays then it’s hard to keep our hands off each other. I’m a sun worshipper and when it comes out we end up nipping indoors pretty frequently and falling into bed.”

Joe said: “I always find Lucy irresistible but I think in the summer, when her outfits are more revealing, it’s even more so.”

Loved up ... 'we can't keep our hands off each other'

In August — usually the hottest period of the year — just 22 per cent of lovers said they were at their raunchiest, with the average person having sex 3.7 times a week.

In The Sun on Sunday survey, carried out by , just 18 per cent of people said June was their steamiest time of year, while the dreariest month in the carnal calendar was November, when couples have sex just twice a week.

Lovehoney co-founder Richard Longhurst said: “There are a number of reasons why we feel more amorous during this weekend.

“At the start of July people feel happier and more confident, meaning it’s much easier to flirt and have fun — and that means a lot more of us are getting it on.” Two thirds of steamed-up Brits revealed that they make love more when they are away on holiday.

But despite the saucy statistics, about 41 per cent of people said they refrained from making a move on their partner while on holiday because they were too busy fiddling with their PHONES.

Dr Sharif Mowlabocus, from the Centre for the Study of Sexual Dissidence at the University of Sussex, said: “The hotel bedroom, once a place of intimacy, can feel more like a frenzied media centre.

“Couples rush to upload photos from the day, check in with friends and scroll through news feeds.”

Relationship expert and Durex spokeswoman Alix Fox urged couples to focus on each other. She said: “Rather than viewing your holiday as something you have to broadcast, delight in keeping aspects of it a secret just for the two of you to share.

“Don’t just make media posts, make memories. And make love.”

Our life force

SEXOLOGIST and relationship therapist MIKE LOUSADA says: “When it’s warm, and surely the temperature will heat up soon, there’s more skin on show and that excites us. Also, there is more blood circulation into our pelvic floor.

“This leads to increased sensation, and when we become more aware of our genitals we tend to want to do something with them. And as we relax we start to open emotionally to the flow of life force energy in us. One of the ways this is expressed is through sex.

“People who have regular sex live longer, have increased happiness, increased capacity for intimacy and connection. Sexual energy is our life force.”
