Can you meet friends and family outside during lockdown?

Brits have been ordered to stay at home to help control the coronavirus, protect the NHS and save lives.

You cannot leave your home to meet socially with anyone you do not live with or are not in a support bubble with.

But, exercise is allowed under the third lockdown restrictions - which will be reviewed by the government in mid-February, 2021.

The government says:

  • You may leave the home to exercise with your household or support bubble
  • Or, you can exercise with one other person
  • Exercise should be limited to once per day
  • You should not travel outside your local area

Staying in your local area means remaining in the village, town, or part of the city where you live.

In January 2021, a group of 11 Covidiots was fined for breaking coronavirus laws by driving 150 miles to hike in the Peak District.

The men travelled from North London in three vehicles on the day Boris Johnson announced Britain's third national lockdown.

The same month saw another three Covid lockdown idiots being penalised after driving 200 miles to Essex for a boat trip - before needing to be rescued.

The men drove from Staffordshire to Southend-on-Sea, and then tried to cross an estuary in a small boat to reach the Red Sands Sea Forts.

You must not leave or be outside of your home except where you have a ‘reasonable excuse’. This is the law.

Cops will penalise you for leaving home without a ‘reasonable excuse’, such as work, volunteering or going to the supermarket, and they'll fine you at least £200.

What are the social distancing rules?

Stay two metres apart from anyone not in your household or support bubble. A support bubble is a support network which links two households.

Or, remain one metre apart from others with extra precautions in place such as wearing face coverings.

Boris Johnson has announced that current national lockdown measures will be extended until at least March 8, 2021.

How many people can I meet?

You can leave home to meet your support bubble or childcare bubble where necessary, but only if you are legally permitted to form one.

Locked-down Brits have also been told they can leave the home to "exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person".

Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi told BBC Radio 4 that he wasn't impressed by Covidiots snubbing measures - especially those exercising outside.

"If you have to exercise you can go out for exercise only. We want to make sure people stay at home. That’s the message," he said.
