Swampy, real name Daniel Hooper, is one of at least six activists camped out in the 100ft tunnel near London’s Euston Station.

They have said they will attach themselves to concrete blocks if they have to.

One, Lazer Sandford, 20, has already locked his arm into a metal tube buried in concrete in the tunnel.

Spokesman Howard Rees, 40, told The Sun: “It’s starting to look more and more likely that they’ll go the distance and take the record for the longest UK eviction.

“There’s a few of them in there who will be trying to hold out for as long as possible and I imagine there will be some friendly rivalry between a few of them to be the last one out.

“Dan is a pretty determined individual but Larch (Dr Larch Maxey) might give him a run for his money.

“Obviously it’s the cause which is the important thing to all of them. But it is also interesting to speculate both how long can they hold out for and who will be the last one out.”

Swampy spent a week in a tunnel in 1997 trying to stop the Exeter to Honiton A30 dual carriageway.

The protesters have said it will be “at least a month” before the last person leaves the Euston tunnels. They have been there for nine days.
