Family of Rowdy Radford, 15, from Texas, US, release pictures of his terrible injuries as a warning
A TEEN has lost his leg, several of his fingers and could go blind after a homemade sparkler bomb exploded in his face.
Rowdy Radford, from Sargent, in Texas, US, suffered the devastating injuries on Saturday.
He made the explosive out of 180 sparklers, which were wrapped in electrical tape.
But it exploded in his hand and into his face – Rowdy, 15 was rushed to Children’s memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where doctors had to amputate his left leg from below the knee.
He has a 50 per cent chance he will go blind after the blast and is still in intensive care.
His mother, Wendy Smith told : “It's really hard to see your baby go through all this. I just want the parents to know don't let your kids play with fireworks.
“It's not worth it. It really ain't. It hurts because I want to see my kid talk to me and he's not because he can't. It's really rough.”
The strength of the blast from the homemade bomb blew four foot hole in the ground, and it was heard up to four miles away.
Wendy added: “They do it every year. But we didn't know this was going to be a big one.”
Rowdy’s aunt, Samantha Hansen, said of her nephew: “Rowdy has always been known for making his booms and he makes his booms by scaring everybody.”

Sparkler bombs are often made around July 4th in the US – and the teen’s family have decided to speak out to warn of the dangers.
Rowdy has pins and screws in his wrists and elbows, and on his page it says he had “several of his fingers were blown off.”
The teen has had a lot of support – and so far over $10,000 US dollars have been donated to help him with his care.
