Chilling CCTV shows man trying to kidnap girl, 4, just feet from her mother

A disturbing video shows a cold-bloodied man trying to snatch a four-year-old girl right in front of her mother.

CCTV footage from a store in Victorville, California, shows Terry Ransom, 24, allegedly attempting to kidnap the child while she was standing beside her mum.

The mother of the girl is pictured holding another child in her arms as she enters the shop at 2:35pm local time last Friday.

Police have confirmed that Ransom, of Hesperia, California, grabbed the girl, as she was standing next to the door, and pulled her outside before losing his grip and running away.

Authorities says the distressed mother chased after the assailant but was unable to catch him.

But police managed to locate and detain Ransom near the scene of the alleged kidnapping.

Investigators say the girl was shaken and upset but was uninjured following the incident.

Ransom was taken to a hospital where he was evaluated before being charged with kidnapping and child cruelty.
