Summer finally returns this weekend with 25C sizzler in the South… but north is set for ‘tropical’ rain

Today could be warmest since the beginning of June, but don't forget your umbrella

BBQS  will be out in the South of Britain today... while those in the North should hang to their umbrellas.

Temperatures are expected to reach 25C in the South, where cloud will give way to sunny spells in the afternoon.

Meanwhile the North of the country can expect heavy "tropical" downpours as temperatures struggle to hit 20C.

The bizarre monsoon weekend of weather, could see the South East experience its warmest day since the beginning of June, although showers will make their way from the West and North later today.

June provided a dismal start to the summer, one of the dullest and wettest on record, but things may be looking up.

The Met Office has said Kent will see the best of the sunshine this afternoon, although the whole of Britain should feel warm and humid.

On Sunday forecasters are predicting a day of sunshine and showers.

The South East can expect light patchy rain during the morning and much of the afternoon, with sunny spells into the evening.

In they North, temperatures are expected to peak at around 20C on Sunday with heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening.
