Woman charged with attempted murder after baby found abandoned in toilet at hospital
Heroic NHS staff in Wigan had to resuscitate the newborn child following the horrifying incident
A WOMAN has been charged with attempted murder after a newborn baby was found abandoned in hospital toilets.
The baby boy was found in a bathroom in the A&E department of Wigan’s Royal Albert Infirmary just after midnight on Tuesday night.
Medical staff dramatically resuscitated the tot who is now reportedly doing well.
Suspect Orsolya Anmaria Balogh, 26, is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
A 31-year-old man who was held on suspicion of attempted murder has since been eliminated from enquiries.
Detective Inspector Martin Reddington praised the “heroic” staff at the hospital for saving the baby’s life.

He said: “This is an awful situation, I am just so happy I am able to say that the baby boy is doing well.
“I would like to take this opportunity to praise the staff at the Royal Albert Infirmary, without doubt their heroic actions saved the life of this new born baby.”
Andrew Foster, chief executive of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, heaped praise on the “diligent” staff member who found the child.
He said: “I would like to thank all staff who were involved for their professionalism and calmness during the incident, particularly the diligent member of staff who discovered the baby and raised the alarm.
“I’m very proud of the way our staff worked, their quick response without doubt saved the baby’s life.”
