Unconscious, but still alive, he was rushed to hospital where doctors were unable to save him in time.

The official cause of Mr Tiwari's death, suffocation, is believed to be linked to an unexplained black line around neck - discovered by postmortem.

The certified paranormal investigator had spent his time tracking down more than 6,000 "haunted" near his home in Dwaraka, Dehli - where he lived with his wife and parents.

His family have since told of the chilling mysteries surrounding his death, revealing the expert in UFOs, hypnosis and paranormal activity was plagued by a "negative force" just a month before his death.

Despite admitting to not believing in ghosts, Mr Tiwari's father Uday - puzzled by his son's death - said: "Gaurav told his wife a month ago that a negative force was pulling him towards it. He had said he was trying to control it but seemed unable to do so.

"My daughter-in-law ignored it thinking he was just depressed due to work overload and did not tell us about it.”

The family added that their lost one was happy and had no reason to take his own life, before telling of the "loud thud" they heard in the room before finding unconscious Mr Tiwari.

Tiwari got married in February this year, said his father, adding: “He would never commit suicide. His death is a puzzle to us.”

The deceased ghost hunter was the founder of the Indian Paranormal Society, which gathered thousands of followers online.

His dedication to pursing spirits emerged in 2009 after he allegedly experience paranormal activity first hand while training to become a commercial pilot.
