PORN stars have been caught shooting X-rated scenes on a beach which will host Olympic events in just weeks.
The explicit romps took place in full view of passers-by, who recorded the sordid scenes on their mobile phones.
Locals in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil were left shocked and outraged as performers Nicolle Bittencourt, 27, and Yuri Machado, 33, stripped entirely naked for adult scenes.
Footage of the spectacle has gathered hundreds of thousands of views on social networks.
It has caused uproar from residents who say they are offended by the film-maker’s choice of location of Recreio dos Bandeirantes, which is popular with families.
Cyclists and competitive walkers will pass through the coastal neighbourhood in the western zone of the city as they compete for medals at the games which kick off on August 5.
It will also be the seaside home for hundreds of Olympic tourists who have booked to stay in hotels and rented flats in the area.
It is located just along the coast from the iconic Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, which will host events including beach volleyball.
The erotic scenes were filmed by Brazilian porno director, Brad Montana, at one o’clock in the afternoon in full view of all those strolling along the beach-front path.
He revealed the movie was made last Thursday, although mobile phone footage has only just emerged. The location for the shoot had been changed to the public waterfront because the original spot booked was unavailable.
He claimed few people were around at the time.
Brad said: “There were no sunbathers on the beach, much less women and children, and the stretch of road where we made the recording was closed. We also requested permission to film from the owner of a nearby kiosk.
“We chose the area because we thought it would be quiet,” he added.
According to the director this is the first time he has made a porno film in a known public area and he is "upset" by the negative publicity with social media comments accusing him of "lewd" and "irresponsible" behaviour.
He said the adverse reaction is threatening his livelihood.
Blue movie actress Nicolle, whose real name is Debora Dunhill, said she only knew about the images when she started receiving abusive messages on her Facebook.
“People have been really rude and offensive. Some have even threatened track me down and harm me. But I was only doing my job,” said the former 2015 Miss Bum Bum for Tocantins.
Nicolle, who is from Sao Paulo, has made over 200 adult films and has been in the industry since the age of 18. She was photographed naked at the scene and posed for pictures.
Her sex partner, Yuri, said: “The filming was very discreet. But it’s caused a big buzz. I don’t have Facebook so I didn’t know what was going on. I only found out because my friends sent me the images on WhatsApp.”
Filmmaker Brad said: “Whoever recorded the video of us at work on their cell phones didn’t complain at the time. Everyone who saw us appeared to be enjoying it.”
He apologised for causing offence and said: “I would like to be recognised for the quality of my work. People who know me know that I am a good person. I did not intend to cause any embarrassment or offence. I don’t like the idea of my city being labelled with this sort of image.”
Brad who multi-tasks as the cameraman, director, producer and actor has vowed not to use a high profile public location again.
Recreio Beach is just four miles from the Olympic Village where athletes are due to stay during August and September and only 15 minutes by road from the Olympic Park. Both venues are in Barra, west Rio.
Following the controversy, police have launched an investigation into whether the producer and the actors in the film, which shows Yuri and Nicolle naked and having sex on the sand while being filmed by a cameraman, should be charged with obscenity in a public place.
A police spokesperson said: “Investigations are underway and those involved have been called in for questioning to explain what took place and why.”
A possible ban now hangs over the blue movie, which was due for release later this month. Sales and marketing of the adult film could be suspended if police decide to press charges.
