Should I laminate my Covid vaccination card?

Many experts say it is a good idea to laminate your vaccination card.

“I’m getting asked about this a lot more as more people get vaccinated, and they’re starting to see vaccination requirements to go to a sporting event or to travel,” Dr. Arthur Caplan, director of NYU Langone’s Division of Medical Ethics, told .

As the reports, the vaccination cards are our only proof of getting the shots.

“I’m glad we prioritized getting shots in arms,” Ami Parekh, chief medical officer at digital healthcare company Grand Rounds Inc., told the WSJ.

“But putting in rules about being vaccinated without giving people a way to properly track it is a little bit backwards.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on March 29 that "there will be no centralized universal federal vaccinations database and no federal mandate requiring everyone to obtain a single vaccination credential."

She added, according to the Journal: “We’ll leverage our resources to ensure that all vaccination-credential systems meet key standards - whether that’s universal accessibility, affordability [or] availability, both digitally and on paper.”

If you decide to laminate your card, consider the "other" section that is listed on the bottom. There might be more to add to your card if you eventually need a booster shot.

However, Caplan told MarketWatch that "if you get a booster, you’ll probably get a new card anyway."

What should I do before laminating?

Dr. Leana Wen of George Washington University suggests that you take a photo of both sides of your vaccine card as soon as you can.

“I would email the pictures to myself, too,” she told MarketWatch, “just to make sure that there’s another copy of it.”

It is also recommended that you make a hard copy of your card as well.

“When it comes to something like your Covid vaccination, you want to have this documentation at your fingertips,” Wen told the outlet.

“That’s why having multiple copies of it available in different ways is a wise choice.”

What's the latest Covid-19 update in the US?

Experts fear a fourth wave of coronavirus is on tap with cases rising all over the country.

Doctors urge people to continue to get vaccinated.

"We are almost at the finish line, but we're not there," Dr Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, told .

President Joe Biden said on March 29 that “our work is far from over."

"The war against Covid-19 is far from won," he added, according to .

"This is deadly serious. If we let our guard down now, we could see a virus getting worse, not better.”
