Bristol explosion updates LIVE – ‘Suspicious’ blast rocks street forcing emergency evacuation of homes
A 'SUSPICIOUS' explosion has rocked houses in Bristol forcing emergency evacuations.
Emergency services were called to the St Paul's area of the city shortly after 2am today following the blast.
A number of neighbouring properties in the St Nicholas Road area were evacuated as a precaution.
However, no injuries have been reported.
Officials from Avon and Somerset Police said: "An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
"However, at this early stage, we are treating it as suspicious."
Firefighters and paramedics were also called to the scene, and gas and electric engineers have also attended.
Road closures have also been put in place and council staff are at the scene.

Gas and electrical engineers have been working to secure the scene this morning after a blast from a residential property rocked the St Paul’s area at around 2am.
WORK UNDERWAY TO MAKE BUILDING SAFE
Workmen are busy making sure the building is secure after the explosion, it was reported.
A firefighter has also turned up with a sniffer dog at the site, according to Baeur Media.
GAS EXPERTS CALLED IN
Gas and electrical engineers have been working to secure the scene this morning after a blast from a residential property rocked the St Paul’s area at around 2am.
A number of neighbouring properties around St Nicholas Road were evacuated as a precaution. Firefighters, paramedics and police were rushed to the scene, but there have been no reported injuries.

This morning, Avon and Somerset Police tweeted: "Emergency services are currently in St Paul's, Bristol, following an incident in the early hours of this morning.
"At this time, no injuries have been reported, however road closures are in place in the St Nicholas Road area. Full details below:
ROADS CLOSED
Road closures are in place in St Nicholas Road and at its junction with Grosvenor Road.
A diversion route has been set up via Ashley Road but police are asking the public to avoid the area altogether if possible.
EVACUATION
