The sisters were last seen on Egerton Road last Saturday.

They were believed to have travelled to Hillingdon in west London from their home 12 miles away.

Their frantic family said they hadn't heard from them since then.

But police said the girls were found safe and well by officers from the South West Missing Persons Unit this morning.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Many thanks to all those who shared the appeal for information about twin sisters Poppy and Lily Myers who were reported missing from Twickenham.

"The girls were found safe and well in the past hour by officers from the South West Missing Persons Unit.

"We won't be issuing any further details about where and in what circumstances they were found."

They said Lily has brown hair and is 5"2 and of slim build.

She was wearing black platform boots and black trousers when she was last seen.

Poppy has blonde, shoulder-length hair, is also of slim build and stands 5";2 tall.

She was last seen wearing a long, white coat and knee-length riding boots.

A statement from the Met Police read: "A missing person investigation is ongoing led by officers from the South West Area Command Safeguarding Unit.

"The girls have strong links to the borough of Hillingdon and enquiries so far have established that they may be in the Northwood area.

"It is believed that they have been in contact with friends as recently as this morning."
