A DISTRESSED cop can be heard pleading for help in a desperate dispatch after a fellow police officer was shot in Baton Rouge.
In audio released after the fatal shooting, the cop can be heard repeating his call that shots had been fired with an officer down.
Three police officers were killed with another four critically injured after shots were fired by a masked gunman in the United States.
In the audio released by broadcastify.com, the cop can also be heard saying that he knows where the shooting came from.
Calling for help, the officer says: "shots fired, officer down".
Parts of the audio are garbled but the distress in the officer's voice is clear.
Reports coming out of the United States suggest the shooting occurred when a man, dressed fully in black, walked out between a shot and a car wash.
Cops had been called after the man was seen walking along the Airline Highway, armed with a rifle,
But on their arrival, the man opened fire in an apparent ambush.
The shooting comes barely two weeks after a black man, Alton Sterling, was shot by cops.
Alton Sterling had been held by police and shot with the death of the 37-year-old filmed and going viral.
His death sparked protests across the United States with one protest in Dallas interrupted by a shooting which saw several officers killed.
