A GRIEVING mum has paid tribute to her "beautiful" daughter who died after two liver transplants failed.

Chelsea Meek, 22, from Ruardean in Gloucestershire died on July 3, almost two months after she first went into hospital.

Her mother, Linda, said: "She was very beautiful, very brave and very courageous.

"In all the cards and letters, everybody has said how beautiful she was inside and out.

"She was such a caring person."

She studied health and social studies at the Royal Forest of Dean College near Coleford and went on to become a care worker.

Chelsea and her boyfriend moved into a rented cottage, where they lived until she became ill again and moved back to the family home.

Linda said the support given to the family by people following Chelsea's death has been helpful.

She added: "It does help. We take a little bit of comfort from it.

"Chelsea didn't realise how beautiful she actually was. Lots of people have signed a book of condolences in Ruardean Hill Baptists Chapel."

She said her daughter had lived a full life after having a full liver transplant when she was 11, but became ill again more recently and needed another transplant.

The operation was on May 10, with a second carried out six days later as doctors tried to address the large amount of blood lost during the first.

Linda said the first operation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham had gone well but Chelsea deteriorated due to losing a lot of blood.

She had another six-and-a-half hour operation before undergoing another liver transplant.

After this her family spent all the time they were able to with her before she died.

Linda said: "It was a living nightmare. We thought she had turned the corner at one stage but luck wasn't on her side."

The family want people to wear bright colours at Chelsea's funeral, at noon on July 22.

Purple was her favourite colour and horses with purple plumes will pull her coffin in a carriage to church.
