Bizarre moment horses form an orderly queue outside an ice cream van
The animals were hoping for a way to cool down in the baking heat
BAKING heat in the UK at the weekend sent temperatures soaring so high even HORSES were queuing up at an ice cream van looking for a way to cool down.
Commuters spotted the free-roaming nags gathering at the mobile refreshment van in the hope of getting a frozen treat.
Three of the sweltering horses formed an orderly queue at Winstone’s ice cream on Minchinhampton Common, Gloucestershire.
Visitors are asked not to feed the animals so it is thought they were given a cool drink instead – missing out on the frozen treats.
James Marling, 33, spotted the horses and took a picture on his way to work.
He said: “That ice cream van is always there but I’ve never seen horses gather at it.
“I think they were feeling the heat like us, and were hoping to get some help to cool down.”
Yesterday the UK basked in the hottest temperatures of the year so far – with forecasters predicting the mercury will soar to the mid-30s this week.
Record highs of 27.6C were recorded in several parts of England on Sunday, nudging ahead of the previous best of 27.4C set on June 6.
