THIS hair-raising video shows the moment a group of young boys dodge death by jumping from a railway bridge into a canal moments before an oncoming train passes them.

At the beginning of the footage seven boys can be seen standing on the edge of a railway bridge running across the Upper Ganga canal region in Ghaziabad, India.

The train can be heard in the distance, its horn blaring loudly as it speeds down the track, hurtling towards the boys.

As it comes closer, it looks as if the train is about to collide into them, when they finally make the perilous jump into the murky water below.

The boys, who appear to be aged between 10 and 15, can then be seen emerging from the water, swimming downstream – apparently unscathed from their near-miss.

The 50-second clip, shot by someone standing on the banks of the stream, has since gone viral.

According to the locals, as quoted by media, this is a common occurrence in the area with kids “indulging in such daredevilry”.

Cops said extra patrols have been deployed to stop other youths from playing on the train tracks and filming footage to post online.

Ved Prakash, who lives near the bridge, told the : "The canal is frequented by boys from nearby areas and they perform such stunts since they are well acquainted with it and have been born and brought up here.

"There have been incidents when some boys have drowned, but that has failed to deter the youngsters."
