Hapless kitten with head stuck in a storm drain narrowly escapes death
Fire crew freed the one-year-old kitty by dislodging the grate and sliding head through using soap
Oh grate! This cat almost lost one of its nine lives when it got its head stuck in a storm drain.
The hapless one-year-old kitty was found wedged into one of the holes.
It looked as though the cat was trying to escape after finding its way into the drain system.
Thankfully, a crew from Winchendon Fire Department, Massachusetts, USA, were on hand to free the feline - using soap.

A fire department spokesperson explained: “When we arrived the cat was barely breathing and moving as she was hanging from the grate.
"We removed the grate and uprighted the grate so the cat could breath.
"When the owner arrived we had him get some dish soap from his house and we applied it around the cat’s neck, we slowly worked his head back into the grate and within a couple minutes we freed the cat.”
