Shocking GoPro footage shows cyclist mowed down in north London ‘hit-and-run’
Adam Akram needed hospital treatment after he suffered concussion, internal bleeding and severe bruising
A STUNNED cyclist filmed the terrifying moment he was knocked off his bike by a ‘hit-and-run’ driver.
Adam Akram, 22, was left badly injured when he was sent flying on a busy road in broad daylight.
The keen cyclist shot the entire scary episode on a special GoPro camera attached to his helmet.
Adam was taken to hospital suffering concussion, internal bleeding and severe bruising.
The IT consultant was cycling along Barley Lane in Ilford when he was hit at the junction of Atholl Road.
The driver of the oncoming silvery blue Toyota is seen turning straight in front of Adam.
Adam, of Barking, Essex, had no time to avoid the car and crashed head-long into the front wing.
As he was sent crashing to the road as the driver sped off without stopping to check how he was.
Traumatised Adam can be heard moaning and gasping in agony as a passerby dashes to his aid.
“I was taken to hospital after the crash – it was all very scary,” he revealed.
“It was just unbelievable.
“I had minor bruising around my body, internal bleeding on the skull and concussion.”
The shocking accident was the second Adam has been involved with in the last three years.
He insisted more needs to be done to protect cyclists on London’s busy roads.
“I think if we start making stuff more public people will hopefully be a bit more aware and careful of cyclists,” he stressed.
“It’s something that needs to be addressed, especially in places where there aren’t many cycling lanes.”
