SHOPPERS went into meltdown when they spotted Sainsbury's trying to flog CHRISTMAS chocolate on the hottest day of the year.

The supermarket giant was selling the Toblerone chocs decorated with Christmas trees and snowmen as temperatures across the country soared well above 30 degrees yesterday.

One of the shoppers who noticed the strange unseasonal display at the store in East Dulwich, London, was quick to let the world know.

Nigel Hall tweeted the supermarket giant saying: "Yes, on the hottest day of the year, Sainsbury's have got Christmas stock in."

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’re looking into how this stock got onto our shelves in the middle of Summer.
