Terrified passenger describes shocking brawl between six men at 40,000 feet that forced emergency landing at Bali Airport
Aussies were booted off plane on the paradise island after Sydney to Phuket flight was diverted
SIX Aussies were kicked off a plane and arrested after a boozy ‘five-on-one’ brawl at 40,000ft left the cabin “covered in blood”.
The Sydney to Phuket flight had to be diverted to Bali after a row over a seat sparked a punch up.
One passenger spoke of her disgust after the melee kicked off around her seat.
Romy Papas wrote on Facebook: “’Love it when a fight breaks out over your seat #bitofbloodeverywhere. Thank you Jetstar for handing the situation really well considering how bad they were.”
The Jetstar flight was diverted after Australians Bradley Beecham, Brett Eldridge, Mark Rossiter, Lynmin Waharai and Ricky William are alleged to have clashed with Michael Matthews.
And despite the ruckus, all of the brawlers escaped criminal charges after landing on the paradise island of Bali.
Officials at Bali’s Gusti Ngurah Rai airport confirmed there had been “unruly passengers fighting in the cabin”.
He added: “They consumed beers and liquors. That’s what they claim; we can’t verify their story further as we weren’t able to interview the crew or other passengers on the flight.”
At least three of the men were said to have smelt of alcohol when arrested with one said to have sustained significant injuries.
One disgusted passengers took to Facebook to write: “What a f##### flight,2.25pm flight out, 3.15pm take off, have an emergency flight into Bali cause of 7 sick b*****ds punching the s**t out of each other, kids everywhere, I was shit scared, blood evetywherre, 12 police came on plane & took 7off. Took scarey I was crying & wanted to just go home.” (sic)
One of the men allegedly involved posted an image on Facebook that appeared to show him and one of his friends sitting on the plane before take-off.
In response to comments on Facebook page, the alleged passenger posted: “One of our group had an altercation so they took all six off the flight.
“We are being taken back to Australia on the news they said a brawl ect (sic) passengers were scared no such thing.”
A Jetstar statement read: “We take safety and security seriously and we don’t tolerate disruptive behaviour by passengers on our flights.
“The other customers on board supported the decision to offload the group in Bali.”
