POLICE desperately battle to save victims of the Orlando gay nightclub shooting, in this newly-released footage.

The bodycam video shows Florida police haul the wounded away from Pulse nightclub after arriving at the scene during the horrific attack last month.

Its horrendous toll becomes apparent as frantic clubbers race to the stretcher-carrying police informing them about friends still trapped inside.

All the while Omar Mateen was continuing his gun rampage inside, killing 49 clubbers and injuring 53 more before he was shot dead by police.

One Orange Country sheriff deputy is seen explaining how to carry the wounded on a stretcher.

He barks: "Everybody slow down. One person push the stretcher, two people. Two people to grab people to put on the stretcher."

Later in the footage a voice over his radio says: "Just confirming, we have people barricaded, and an officer banging on the door upstairs."

Police inspect the entrances to the building as a stand-off continues inside.

Urging some to make a run for it, an officer yells: "Go! Let's go, let's go."

One man escaping the attack says: "I'm the DJ for the main room."

Another begs: "Please help! My friends are upstairs and they are very injured."

The chilling footage reveals how police quickly became aware of the terrifying conditions inside the club.

Over police radio a voice can be heard to say: "They’re showing through a text message, that she sent to someone. And they told us that they’re afraid to text because they say the shooter is in there."

Mateen is believed to have been inspired by ISIS attacks on Westerners when carrying out the horrific assault.

In a final letter before the attack he warned: "In the next few days you will see attacks from the Islamic state in the USA."
