Police confirmed in a press conference that Morphew was charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and attempting to influence a public servant in his wife's disappearance. He pleaded not guilty.

As The Denver Post reported, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced Suzanne's autopsy results on the morning of Monday, April 29, 2024.
The CBI said investigators determined Suzanne's cause of death was "homicide by undetermined means in the setting of butorphanol, azaperone and medetomidine intoxication," per the outlet.
According to the publication, azaperone "is used in veterinary medicine."
