On Saturday, June 5, 2022, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office announced Fucci's mother, Crystal, 35, was arrested for allegedly "tampering with evidence."
Police said Crystal surrendered herself to the custody of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
After the then-14-year-old Fucci was questioned by investigators, Crystal was reportedly spotted on surveillance video in her home washing her son's jeans, the arrest warrant stated, according to .
Officers confiscated the jeans which later tested positive for blood.

On August 24, 2021, the Florida State Attorney’s Office released the surveillance video along with Snapchat videos of Fucci in the back of a patrol car.
“Guess who’s in a f***ing cop car, guys? Trippin’ dude," Fucci said.
Fucci's father, Jason, has also been in trouble with the law before.
It was reported that back in January 2003, he was accused of child abuse, injury, and neglect. That same year, in October, he was also arrested for engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl at his home.

In 2004, he was found guilty of the child abuse charges and was sentenced to one year and two months in prison. Jason was also found guilty of engaging in sexual activity but was only sentenced to two years of probation.
In 2016, Jason was then arrested again for battery following a fight at a gas station with a couple while his son was present.

Fucci was sentenced to life in prison for the 2021 murder of Bailey, aged 13.
He was tried as an adult and began his sentencing hearing on March 21, 2023.
The decision to charge Fucci with first-degree murder came from a grand jury, which met in secret on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
At the time, the state attorney shared that if Fucci received life in prison, he will be eligible for a review at age 25 because he is a minor.
He will also receive certain benefits or accommodations because of his age at the time of the crime and sentencing.
In a press conference on May 27, the State Attorney called the choice to charge Fucci as an adult a "sad, but not difficult" decision.
