BIRTHDAY BEHIND BARS

Death row gran Lindsay Sandiford smiles despite looming execution as she celebrates 60th birthday in Bali jail

She was given cake and pizza and was visited in prison by friends

CONVICTED Brit smuggler Lindsay Sandiford celebrated her 60th birthday in jail with cake and pizza - as her execution looms.

Sandiford was arrested in 2012 in Bali, after arriving at Denpasar Airport on a flight from Thailand, and was found in possession of 4.7kg of cocaine.

Despite her seemingly bleak future, she was able raise a smile to celebrate her birthday with a couple of friends inside her jail cell, complete with a personal cake.

The Gran, from Redcar, Teesside has always maintained she was carrying it for her son who was being threatened for his life.

Indonesia has a hard line on drug smugglers and prioritises them for execution.
