A CYCLIST racing down a country road smashed into a car after it pulled out in front of him and blocked his path at a junction.
Chris Worth was left with multiple injuries after he hit the car at speed and was sent flying onto the road while on a descent in the Peak District.
He was wearing a helmet-mounted camera at the time and captured the whole incident.
Now he wants others to watch it to raise awareness throughout drivers, to make sure they look out for cyclists.
In the video, Chris is making quick progress down a road and he passes two cyclists on their way up.
As he approaches a small side road a car noses out and is soon blocking the entire road.
Chris shouts in warning and alarm but is unable to go around the car as it is across the road, and he is not able to slow down in time.
He smashes into the side of the car and lands on the other side, on the road, audibly moaning in pain.
He told Cycling Weekly: "The driver did stop and get out, but I can’t remember much about it.
"I don’t think she was much use. Luckily there were two cyclists going up the hill and they heard the crash and came to help out."
"The ambulance service were great, they sent a helicopter to take me to the hospital.
“The summary of my injuries is remarkably light. I had three broken ribs, a tear to my vastus intermedius muscle (one of the quads) and lots of facial lacerations, which required me to go to theatre.”
