CHIC bride Carrie Symonds rented a designer hippy dress for her wedding to Boris Johnson — for just £45.

The Prime Minister, 56, wearing a suit and Tory blue tie, and the new Mrs Johnson, 33, tied the knot in a top-secret ceremony on Saturday.

She married the PM in a £2,900 dress by a Greek luxury designer - and it's already sold out.

It is the Prime Minister's third marriage, having previously wedded Allegra Mostyn-Owen and Marina Wheeler.

Boris and Carrie got engaged in February 2020, before welcoming the pair's first child - Wilfred - two months later.

But the nuptials come just days after the couple were making headlines for the wrong reasons after former senior adviser Dominic Cummings spoke at a select committee hearing this week. Cummings claimed that Carrie had been trying to 'appoint her friends to particular jobs' within the Government.

  • FLAK OVER WEDDING TO 'DEFLECT DOMINIC CUMMINGS' TESTIMONY'

Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds' big wedding day followed a difficult week for the PM in which his former aide Dominic Cummings branded him unfit for office.

Labour former frontbencher, Jon Trickett, said the wedding was "a good way to bury this week's bad news" on Mr Cummings' testimony, the spread of the Indian coronavirus variant and the row about funding of the Downing Street flat.

Fellow Labour MP Tonia Antoniazzi suggested the "emergency marriage plan" was an attempt to "deflect from negative press" from Mr Cummings.

She tweeted: "They know he won't be able to plan one in Chequers cos he won't be PM next year…"

  • CARRIE TAKING BORIS'S SURNAME

It is understood that the PM's new wife will take his surname and be known as Carrie Johnson.

Mrs Johnson's gown was reportedly a £2,870 Costarellos creation - although the Telegraph reported she may have hired it for £45 a day.

The couple announced their engagement, together with the news that they were expecting their first child, in February last year. Their son, Wilfred, was born in April 2020.

It is Mr Johnson's third marriage, having finalised his divorce from his second wife, Marina Wheeler, in 2020.

But as Charles looked in the front window and chatted to a store worker, Camilla was standing nearby with a face of horror as someone handed her a dog toy modelled after the Prime Minister.

He added: “On June 14, we will set out very clearly, the data that we are continuing to gather from step three, which was on May 17, and then we’ll share that with the nation, as the Prime Minister has done in each and every step from step one, two and three and then of course, step four.”
