Gamers claim Nintendo anti-hero Wario is a ‘FAT NAZI’
Super Mario's mustachioed arch-enemy might just be even nastier than anyone thought
The gaming world was rocked today when a British father alleged one of its games had accidentally taught his eight-year-old daughter the word "c***".
But it turns out there are a lot of potentially suspicious sounds in video games which are waiting to offend sensitive players.
After we revealed the story of one family's battle against the dreaded c-word, we were contacted by a concerned reader who pointed us in the direction of sensational internet rumours which suggest Super Mario's enemy Wario is a "FAT NAZI".
These shocking rumours first lit up the online underworld in 2014, but have remained largely under the radar.
The allegations came after the release of Mario Kart 8, which featured Wario as a playable character.
Some players' delicate sensibilities were jangled when Wario appeared to say the German phrase "Sieg Heil" when players chose him from a character selection menu.
Wario was then mocked for his weight in several online posts and labelled a "NAZI".
However, it appears likely he was actually saying "sick car", as Nintendo would not want to tarnish their family friendly image by making one of their characters speak like a follower of the Third Reich.
