Gun fired by Lord Ashcroft’s daughter-in-law in cop killing ‘had built-in safe bar’

THE pistol fired by Lord Ashcroft’s daughter-in-law in a police killing has a built-in safety-lever to prevent accidents.

The Glock 9mm’s bar and the trigger both have to be depressed to make it fire, experts say.

Jasmine Hartin, 32, who is married to the Tory bigwig’s son, Andrew, says she accidentally shot Supt Henry Jemmott in the head with his service gun after giving him a massage in Belize.

But retired police captain Michael Van Durme, 65, said: “I guess someone could grab the gun, stick their finger in it and hit the trigger by accident.

"But they would need a firm grip, point the gun at his head and pull the trigger back.”

Hartin is in jail facing a manslaughter charge.
