Man dies following brutal attack by a gang of youths outside Manchester burger bar
Cops appeal for help after victim, thought to be in his 40s, was set upon at 10:50pm on Wednesday evening
A MAN has died after being brutally attacked by a gang of youths outside a branch of McDonald’s in Greater Manchester.
Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal incident in Ashton-under-Lyne.
It is understood the attack began outside the restaurant and possibly involved a group of young men who had been eating there.
The assault took place at 10.50pm on Wednesday night and the victim, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital.
He died in the early hours of yesterday. A post-mortem examination and formal identification were due to take place.

Parts of the town centre were cordoned off for several hours while police carried out further enquiries.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anybody with more information to come forward. Det Supt Jonathan Chadwick, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “I would firstly like to pass on my condolences to the family of this man who will understandably be devastated by their loss.
“We are supporting them as best as we can at this time. Officers are currently working to establish exactly what happened on Wednesday night and find those responsible for this attack.
“We know there were people in the area at the time of this assault and I would appeal directly to them to come forward to police with any information they have, no matter how trivial they think it might be.
“Your information could prove vital for this investigation, so please call us.”
