Breathtaking images capture the Milky Way over historic castle in Cornwall
Photographer Alessio Putzu caught the extraordinary scene of shimmering stars over St Michael's Mount on camera
HEAVEN’S above, a historic church and castle glow under the Milky Way in this breathtaking snap.
The Cornish island of St Michael’s Mount was bathed in the light of our galaxy, and captured by snapper Alessio Putzu in an area free of light pollution.
The shimmering stars scattered throughout the sky dwarf the island, located near Marazion.
Mr Putzu used a piece of equipment called an "astro tracker", which is aligned with the Pole Star, to capture the amazing moment last month.
