Man stabbed to death during brawl which broke out after bout in east London

A MAN has been killed outside a Tube station in East London during a fight that broke out following a boxing match.

Cops confirmed the man in his 30s -- named locally last night as Luther ‘Beanz’ Edwards -- was stabbed to death on Cambridge Heath Road near Bethnal Green station.

Witnesses described the bloody scene swarming with Police officers who cordoned off the Tube stop at around 11pm.

Passersby claimed the violent outburst was sparked at nearby boxing match before it spilled out into the street.

Bystanders frantically rushed to the aid of the victim who had been knifed in the chest.

Reports on social media suggest the brawl consisted of about 30 rival fans with the victim being stabbed between seven and eight times.

A female witness was watching the bout taking place at the famous York Hall when brawl broke out outside the ring.

The 29-year-old sports presenter told the: "The guy in charge shouted for security after the boxing fight had finished, everyone was really panicked and we were just like, 'let's get the hell out of here because it's about to kick off'.

"We left and went to the pub opposite. A little while after they came out the arguments and fights went onto the street and then outside the Dundee Arms and then continued to the BP station.

"My friends were there and witnessed him being stabbed."

Another witness said: "I was travelling past on the bus and saw this massive crowd of people and flashing lights at the petrol station.

"You could see a man just lying there on the petrol station forecourt, surrounded by police and paramedics.

"It was really horrific, actually.

"There were massive puddles of blood and everything."

A resident tweeted: "Just a casual day in Bethnal Green where someone got killed outside my house so now I can't go down my road."

A murder inquiry has now been launched and a Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 10.35pm to reports of a person stabbed outside Bethnal Green station.

“A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his chest.

“He was pronounced dead around 11.39pm.

“Next of kin have not been informed and formal identification awaits.

"Enquiries into the stabbing are ongoing."

Part of the the road was still closed this morning.
