THIS is the shocking footage that shows thugs torching a car - only moments after they attempted to carry out a bank raid nearby.

The video clip shows the masked raiders lobbing something inside the window of the vehicle, which is parked outside the Lloyds Bank branch in Cheadle High Street, Greater Manchester.

Seconds after the object is thrown inside the car it catches fire, with sparks flying and smoke soon beginning to pour out of its windows.

The car was used minutes earlier to smash into the front window of the bank, the reports.

According to the newspaper, a gang of six, who are believed to have been armed with chainsaws and a metal bar, targeted the building at around 9.15am on Friday morning.

Witnesses claim a Range Rover pulled up outside the bank around 15 minutes before.

Shortly afterwards another car, shown in the video, sped around the corner and rammed into the front of the building.

It reversed and smashed into the bank a second time before two men got out of the vehicle wearing ski-masks and dark clothing.

Two of the men allegedly tried to cut through an inside door.

One of the men then set alight to the car and jumped into the Range Rover before fleeing the scene.

It is understood the Range Rover was also torched several meters away under a railway bridge.

Cops are investigating the raid.
