Disgraced teacher, 34, caged for eight months after admitting sexual activity with pupil

A FEMALE secondary school teacher who engaged in sexual activity with a pupil has been jailed for eight months.
Kerry Lawson, 34, committed the offence while teaching at Wolgarston High School in Penkridge, Staffordshire.

She admitted abusing a position of trust causing or inciting sexual activity at Stafford Crown Court.
Lawson, of Stafford, was also ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge, given a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register for ten years.

After the case, headteacher Philip Tapp said: “It’s completely unacceptable for a teacher to behave like this and we are deeply disappointed.
“As soon as we became aware of this situation we took swift action in conjunction with other agencies including the local authority and the police.”
A spokesman for the NSPCC said: “Teachers have a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of their pupils, and young people should be able to enjoy school without fear of abuse.”
