POLICE have arrested a farmer suspected of stealing 150 pieces of women's underwear - and found him wearing a bra.

Fumio Takahashi, 63, was caught when police raided his home in the city of Motosu in the south west of Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

He is accused of breaking into the garage of an 84-year-old man and attempting to steal underwear that had been left out to dry.

Gifu Prefectural Police, who charged the farmer with trespassing and attempted theft, say that he freely admitted the allegations.

"I've done this several times," Mr Takahashi reportedly told officers from the Kitagata Police Station.

Police raided his home after members of the victim's family had reported their suspicions to police about the underwear thefts.
