Two arrested after a man is stabbed at London Westfield shopping centre in front of shocked families

The victim was rushed to the hospital with stab wounds

A SHOPPER is in hospital after being stabbed at Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, London, this afternoon.

The attack happened around 2pm, and police have arrested two men in connection with the incident.

Witnesses described an altercation, while others spoke of seeing two suspected assailants running away from the scene.

Police have now cordoned off part of the mall while they investigate.

The victim – believed to be in his 20s – was rushed to hospital with stab wounds.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

And cops said two men have now been arrested in connection with the attack.

Police are investigating after a man was rushed to hospital with stab wounds

Witness Alessandro Mascellino told the : “I saw commotion, many policemen running, and a few paramedics as well.

“It was quite tense. No one knew what was going on.”

A Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 2pm on Friday to reports of a man stabbed at Westfield Shopping Centre, W12.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and discovered a man – aged in his 20s – suffering stab injuries.

“He has been taken to hospital.

“An initial assessment states this is not life threatening.

“Two males – no further details – have been arrested in connection with this investigation.”

The spokesperson said officers from Hammersmith and Fulham were investigating.

He added: “Officers retain an open mind as to the motive but this incident is not terror related.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 2pm today to reports of a stabbing at Westfield, White City.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car and an incident response officer to the scene.

“The first of our medics arrived at the scene in under four minutes.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a hospital in west London.”

The £1.6billion Westfield centre in White City is one of two shopping malls in London bearing the Westfield name – the other being in Stratford.
