Undercover SAS unit flown in to defend British athletes from possible terrorist attack in Rio

THE SAS are undercover guarding Team GB athletes in Rio in case of a terror attack during the Olympic Games.

Special Forces troops have been working in secret to protect the likes of Jessica Ennis-Hill from being targeted by evil ISIS.

A source reportedly said: “If a major situation occurs they are first response in the Olympic village.”

An undercover SAS Special Projects Team was flown into Rio de Janeiro ahead of last night’s/Friday the opening ceremony as the risk of terrorist attacks reaches its highest ever.

A second regiment of troops is also said to be on standby in Central America to fly in at a moment’s notice to prevent or deal with any terror incidents.

It comes as a massive 24 hour a day surveillance squad of 85,000 troops, police and guards encircles the Olympic village in a protective ring of steel – making it the biggest security operation in the games’ history.

Visitors will also be met by airport-security style scanners, metal detectors, and stringent bag checks at the main entrance.

SAS veteran Chris Ryan has said the risk of an attack must be high for it to have triggered Special Forces bodies on the ground.

A source added: “A number of liaison officers have been working with Team GB staff in Rio for three or four weeks. If a major situation occurs they can then work with the Brazilian government and offer assistance.

“They are the first response in the Olympic village and as a last resort, and if they are in a position to do so, they will deal with it.”

However, former SAS hero Ryan said this has been common practice at the Games since the Seoul Olympics in 1988.
