Nathan Wood was spotted by a canoeist running naked and in a 'distressed state' by the River Dart at Totnes, Devon, on Friday
A BODY has been found in the search for a missing teenager who plunged into a river after taking a legal high drug.
There were growing fears that Nathan Wood had drowned after falling into the River Dart at Totnes, Devon, on Friday evening.
Nathan was spotted by a canoeist running naked and in a 'distressed state' by the River Dart at Totnes, Devon, on Friday evening.
Over the weekend divers from Devon and Cornwall Police and colleagues from Avon and Somerset scoured the deeper parts of the river for the 16-year-old who was said to in a "distressed state" after taking the drug.
His family and friends had joined searchers but police said they found his body in the water this morning.
Police would not confirm it was Nathan who had been found but his family were being informed.
Earlier his desperate brother Shane, 25, had taken to social media to rally people to find his younger brother.
He wrote:"We need all the help we can get."
And Nathan's mum Amanda Retter, 47, had also urged people to help find her son who lived in Compton near Paignton, Devon.
A pal said:"She wants people to keep looking."
A post mortem will be carried out this week.
The powerful hallucinogen N bomb - also called Smiley Paper or Bom-25 - creates an effect similar to LSD at extremely small dosages.
According to drug advice website Frank, N-Bombs are powerful hallucinogens, similar to LSD, which changes the way users see objects and reality.
Other websites report the negative and after-effects of the drug are worse than that of LSD, and a high dose can be the size of just six small grains of regular table salt.
The Government banned N-Bomb and made it a Class A drug in June 2014.
Jake Harris, 21, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, died after taking the drug when he stabbed himself in the neck with a broken wine glass before throwing himself out the window, in May 2013.
Inspector Tracy Sharam said Nathan, from Paignton, Devon, was seen running towards the river but was not seen going into the water.
She said:"He was seen running through a field near the school and although no one actually saw him enter the water, his friends heard a splash.
"Officers have been searching the area including the river - however he has not yet been found.
"He may have been under the influence of a potential new psychoactive substance and we are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare."
Police made appeals to his friends and they came forward with the information about the N Bomb drug he had taken on Friday afternoon when he had been out with a group of girlfriends.
Nathan is 5'6" tall, slim, with gingery fair hair and police want anyone with information to contact them on 999 quoting reference 775 of August 5th.
