Daytripper’s shock as eerie face emerged in the side of a cliff in coastal Devon

AN eerie face has appeared in a section of coastline notorious for its crumbling cliffs.

The spooky visage was spotted peering out from the dangerous red cliffs at Sidmouth in Devon by Louise Pottinger.

Louise, 47, said: “I noticed the face on Friday evening whilst on the seafront.

“I was with some friends and none of us could quite believe it.

“I’ve lived in the town all my life and it’s crazy how bad the cliffs are getting.

“When I was younger we used to be able to walk all the way across from Sidmouth to Salcombe Regis.

“There’s no way anyone would want to attempt that now.”

Another local, Martin Trainer, said: “The face looks unhappy. It’s almost like the cliff is warning of us of things to come if something isn’t done soon about the frequent cliff falls.”

The coastline at Sidmouth is currently subject of a beach management plan to protect the popular resort and to help prevent further cliff erosion.

Councillors have recently agreed plans they would like to see implemented which would deliver coastal defences the shoreline desperately requires.
