‘Lovely’ boy, 11, who died after falling into water is pictured as heatwave drowning death toll hits 30

A SCHOOLBOY who drowned at a park has been called a "lovely young boy" by his family.

Dean Irvine, 11, was playing with friends when he fell into the water, triggering a huge search.

Aunt Jade Law said Dean, who drowned in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, last night, was "loved by us all from the moment you were born".

She added: "You kept us on our toes but we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

"Your granny Sandra will take care of you up there. No one will ever take your place as my first-born nephew, you were one of a kind.

"Auntie Jade loves you forever wee Dean. I am so sorry you were taken this way - my heart is broken."

Dean is among at least 30 people to have died in water during the 32C heatwave.

A boy of nine was among three people found dead at a lake yesterday. Another boy, seven, is fighting for life in hospital.

A man, 41, and woman, 29, also died at Loch Lomond in Ardlui, Argyll and Bute.

Mum-of-two Natasha Core, 30, also drowned saving her son, nine, from a lake.

She got him to shore in Lough Gowna, Co Cavan in Ireland on Wednesday night but did not emerge herself.

Her brother Jason Mooney said: "She was an outgoing person, a good mother, she was all for her kids, down to earth – she was just a lovely person. She was taken too soon. She died a hero."

A schoolboy, 11, drowned at a park in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire yesterday.

And teen boxer Frank Varey, 16, died in the River Dee, Cheshire on Thursday.

He was found after a seven-hour search. A video emerged of him jumping into water with his pals just hours before he went missing.
