A TRAIN has caught fire after colliding with an object on the tracks – forcing panicked passengers to evacuate.
Terrified travellers reportedly saw ‘smoke and sparks’ coming from the side of the carriage in Kent with some claiming they were 'struggling to breath'.
The passenger vehicle had to make an emergency stop at Northfleet station with train guards rushing people to safety.
Commuters watched as fire crews arrived at the station.
All services have been suspended.
One disgruntled , Lauren Rule, posted details of the ordeal on to Facebook.

She said: The train ran over something and caught fire. We had to pull the emergency release and jump down onto the tracks to get off.
"I was struggling to breath because the carriage was filled with smoke.
"We had no info from the driver and didn't know if we could get off. So someone pulled the emergency to see if it was safe and jumped out
