Woman killed in police chase as cops ‘pursue couple flying drone over Wandsworth Prison’
Male driver in a critical condition after pair were pursued by cops in the early hours of this morning
A WOMAN has died and a man has been critically injured in a horror smash, after being pursued by cops who suspected them of trying to fly a drone into a London prison.
The pair, both in their 20s, crashed in the early hours of this morning on Ashcombe Street in Fulham.
The couple were followed by police investigating reports a drone was being flown near the grounds of Wandsworth Prison.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision.

The male driver survived but is still in a critical condition in a west London hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash which is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Scotland Yard has said it is unable to comment on whether the police car had been pursuing the couple at speed.
They added no arrests have been made so far.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 03:04hrs, police were called to Groom Crescent near Wandsworth Prison following reports of a drone being flown near the prison grounds.
“Officers arrived and a car was seen to leave the scene.
"Officers followed the vehicle and at 03:10hrs it was seen to have been involved in a collision in Ashcombe Street at the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road.
"However, we continually review our departmental policies and we will ensure that our preoperative documentation for patients is as clear as possible.
“At this stage, it is believed no other vehicle was involved the collision. The London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended."
Police are having to vigilant about drones being used to carry drugs or other contraband into prisons.
A watchdog has warned the the remote-controlled devices are being used to smuggle things into Pentonville prison in London.
